It started in March of 2022 when Russia attacked Ukraine, that we took in people from Ukraine to live in our med Apart and give them another home. What was planned as a quick solution to help the city of Erlangen accommodate the massive amount of people coming from Ukraine, is now ,one and half years later, a co living experiment with around 100 people from all backgrounds.
We invited Erlangen's mayor Florian Janik, to come and visit the people living with us and hearing their struggle in finding flats and understanding some of the bureaucratic pitfalls of Germany. Mr Janik showed understanding, especially for the frustration that it's so hard to find apartments in Erlangen, but also emphasized that the social housing situation is generally problematic in the city and in Germany overall. Nevertheless all of the guests expressed their deepest gratitude towards BOOK-IT apartments and the city of Erlangen for their help and support throughout this crisis.
